Recently I was on Pinterest trying to find out how to preserve acorns. In the past I didn't do this and they would get all moldy and gross. Oh so gross!!! I found a few pins with good information, they all varied a little so I thought I would share with you what I did and how it all worked out.
Directions for preserving acorns:
1.Preheat oven to 225 degrees
2.Soak the acorns for a few minutes in warm water. Then strain out the acorns.
3.Spread an even layer of acorns on a baking sheet. Be sure there is space between the acorns so the hot air evenly circulates.
4.Roast the acorns for about and hour. You should see the coloring of the acorns darken and any green ones you may have had will be brown.
5.Let acorns cool for about a half an hour on some news paper.
The ones I dried out are going to be painted and used for centerpieces for my sisters fall themed baby shower that is coming up!!! So watch out for some posts about the decorations we are making!!!
I would love to hear from you guys if you use acorns for decorating. Let me know down below and be sure to check out our Pinterest board Acorns!!, for links to learn more about acorns and some decoration inspiration @wordpaperlove.
Peace, love and trees
Kelli
