Fall may be well-known for pumpkin spice everything, but my favorite delicious fall flavor is APPLE. Here is a recipe for sweet cinnamon spiced applesauce that will definitely make any day feel more like fall.
Ingredients:
- 12 Apples (About 4 lbs.), peeled, cored, and chopped into ½ inch cubes (I used 6 Fuji and 6 Red Delicious, but you can use any variety of apples that you like.)
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
- In a large bowl, mix apples with cinnamon and sugar, then put into crock-pot.
- Pour water and lemon juice over apples. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
- Let apple mixture cool in the refrigerator either overnight, or until mixture is no longer steaming. Make sure the lid of the crock-pot is either taken off completely, or placed at an angle so that the steam can escape while cooling.
- In a food processor (or blender, if you don’t have this), spoon in cooled applesauce, and blend until desired consistency is reached. I like my applesauce a bit chunkier, but you can blend until smooth, if desired.
- Enjoy!
Happy eating! And happy fall!
-Sarah.
