Homemade Applesauce in the Crock-pot

Fall may be well-known for pumpkin spice everything, but my favorite delicious fall flavor is APPLE. Here is a recipe for sweet cinnamon spiced applesauce that will definitely make any day feel more like fall.

Ingredients:

  • 12 Apples (About 4 lbs.), peeled, cored, and chopped into ½ inch cubes (I used 6 Fuji and 6 Red Delicious, but you can use any variety of apples that you like.)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix apples with cinnamon and sugar, then put into crock-pot.
  2. Pour water and lemon juice over apples. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  3. Let apple mixture cool in the refrigerator either overnight, or until mixture is no longer steaming. Make sure the lid of the crock-pot is either taken off completely, or placed at an angle so that the steam can escape while cooling.
  4. In a food processor (or blender, if you don’t have this), spoon in cooled applesauce, and blend until desired consistency is reached. I like my applesauce a bit chunkier, but you can blend until smooth, if desired.
  5. Enjoy!

Happy eating! And happy fall!
